2015 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay

Made from Vasse Felix’ best parcels of fruit, bright natural acidity was a priority so no malolactic fermentation was encouraged. Maturation took place in French oak for 9 months of which 57% was new.

Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Very refined yet intense the nose offers up aromas of nectarines and pear infused with grapefruit over flinty matchstick notes, biscuity oak, faint cashew and spicy citrus. Elegant and fresh the palate features concentrated flavours of nectarine, citrus and grapefruit underpinned by a precise line of vibrant acidity. On the back palate nuances of flinty match stick, biscuity oak, light cashew and spice also chime in. Clean dry finish, the acidity providing the medium bodied palate with a sense of raciness that’s well counterpointed by a slight creaminess that will build incrementally with bottle age. Long conclusion of nectarine, citrus, grapefruit, lightly toasted biscuity oak, gun flint and spicy cashew.
