2015 Trevelen Farm The Tunney Cabernet Sauvignon

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Lifted aromas of blackcurrant laced with bay leaf overlay vanillin cedar, light earth and spice. Medium bodied with a plush textural feel the palate has flavours of blackcurrant and choc mint over vanillin cedar, light earthy tobacco characters and spice. Dryish finish with fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of blackcurrant, choc mint, subtle earthy tobacco and spicy toasted vanillin cedar.

24yo vines, machine-harvested, crushed and destemmed, 6 weeks on skins in tank, matured in French oak for 28 months. A wonderfully rich and complex cabernet with layers of varietal fruit, cassis/blackcurrant, plump tannins and quality French oak. It's juicy and spicy, lightening its load to medium-bodied status. Drink by 2040.
