Fruit for the Struie is sourced from several elevated sites located throughout the Barossa (78%) and Eden Valleys (22%). The Eden Valley components vibrancy and purity complementing the Barossa Valley’s richness perfectly. The 2015 vintage benefited from some early summer rains which changed the course of the vintage resulting in fruit with wonderful freshness, good acidity and perfect balance. The wine was aged for 20 months in a mixture of new (17%) and seasoned French oak.

A flamboyant Struie laden with power and richness, a sturdy wall of tannins holding everything in place.

Magnificent colour displaying a black as night core with a very deep dark red black hue. Nosing reveals a heady array of liquorice, black cherry and dark plum aromas which meld into subtlety toasted vanillin cedar, hints of fennel and spice. Exceptionally rich and possessing enormous levels of concentrated fruit, opulent flavours of liquorice, ripe blackberries, dark plums and flashes of black cherries power their way across the palate. Underlying nuances of smoky vanillin cedar, fennel and spice ensue. The fine grained yet muscular structure of the tannins are largely consumed by the lashings of fleshy fruit. Amazing power with a very long finish of luscious dark plums, liquorice, blackberries, black cherries, smoky vanillin oak and spicy pepper.
Cellar 6-8 years.
