2015 Renato Ratti Conca Barolo

Piedmont, ITALY
$195.00 Bottle
  • Cellar 6 - 8 years (2025-2027)
  • ABV 14%
  • Closure: Cork

This single vineyard Barolo is sourced from the small, nearly two acre Conca vineyard which sits in one of the oldest sub zones in Barolo. The wine is aged in French oak barriques in its first year and is then transferred to large Slavonian oak casks for its second year of maturation.

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a light red to brick red hue. Fragrant aromas of crushed rose petals, red to dark cherries and hints of strawberries blossom from the glass followed by earth, dried herb, subtle leather and spice nuances. Medium to full in body, ripe red and dark fruits flood the mouth underpinned by robust, bristly tannins and vibrant acidity with nuances of earth, old cedar, dried tobacco and spice sitting underneath. Excellent power concluding with a long delicious spicy red and dark cherry dominated aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews….
Pietro Ratti and his family have created a truly beautiful expression from the Conca cru in La Morra. The 2015 Barolo Conca is more austere and closed initially compared to many of its peers from nearby vineyard sites. But you still get a sense of the profound depth and power of this warm vintage. This wine has the textural richness and fiber that is typical of this vintage with a more structured and sophisticated inner personality. A mere 3,000 bottles were made. Drink 2022-2040.

Monica Larner – Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate

This is very attractive with fragrant, spicy red-cherry and strawberry aromas, as well as a gently tarry edge and a new-leather note. The palate has a beautifully ripe, plush and approachable, fleshy core of sweet red-fruit flavor. Supple finish. Drink or hold.
