Powell & Son is the new venture of Torbreck founder Dave Powell and his son Callum. They could not have gotten off to a better start with their outstanding collection of 2015 wines.

Fruit for this wine is sourced from mature (20+ year old) vines located in the Barossa Valley sub districts of Marananga, Seppeltsfield and Lyndoch Valley with maturation taking place in large format 4500 litre French oak foudres for a period of 15 months.

Superb impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Intense aromas of black plum, black cherries and liquorice waft from the glass with infusions of smoky vanillin oak, subtle fennel and spice ensuing. Decadently rich and voluptuously textured this exuberant Shiraz dishes up layers of gob smacking fruit including dark plum, liquorice, blackberries and ripe black cherries which overlay a backdrop of smoky vanillin cedar, a touch of meatiness and spice. The lavish fruit all but consuming the velvety yet quite structured tannins. Outstanding power with a very long aftertaste of ripe black cherries, liquorice, dark plum, toasty vanillin cedar, subtle meaty black olive infusions and spice.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 15%
