2015 Poliziano Chianti

Established in 1961 Poliziano has over the last 10-15 years put significant effort into improving the quality of their wines including eliminating less favourably situated vineyards, replanting vineyards with better clones and the establishment of a state of the art winery.

Deep dark red colour with a tinge of black around the outskirts and a dark red hue. Quite fragrant the nose shows lifted ripe dark cherry and dried cherry aromas overlaid by dried herbs and faint tobacco with spicy earth end notes. Delightful drinking now the light to medium bodied palate possesses a savoury profile of ripe red to dark cherries intermixed with dried cherries and dried herbs over a back drop of earthy cedar. Finishes dry and spicy with bright, balanced acidity. Slightly grainy but otherwise very well integrated tannins for such a young Chianti. The aftertaste a combination of spicy red and dark cherries, dried cherries, infusions of dried herbs and earthy cedar characters. Great value.
