2015 Penny's Hill The Specialized Shiraz Cabernet Merlot

Made from a blend of 50% Shiraz, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot with maturation taking place in French oak (25% new) for 16 months. Outstanding depth of colour featuring an impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Elevated ripe blackberry and liquorice scents intermix with some blackcurrant followed by vanillin cedar, faint infusions of tobacco and spice. Full bodied the palate is brimming with rich blackberry, blackcurrant and liquorice flavours that are underpinned by vanillin cedar, traces of dark chocolate and spice. Good firm yet refined tannins provide ample structure for the opulent fruit as well as giving the mouthfeel a sense of chewiness. Long spicy blackberry, blackcurrant, liquorice, vanillin cedar and subtle earth aftertaste.
