Opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Intense black raspberry and liquorice aromas are intermeshed with earth, old leather, vanillin cedar and spice. Juicy black raspberry fruits are cast over liquorice and dark plums with some earth, vanillin cedar and spice in the background. Opulent textural feel finishing slightly dryish with smooth yet grainy tannins. Some leather characters emerging on the medium to long aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

From the 110yo vineyard owned by the city of Marion, but leased to Patritti since '06 in recognition of its long association with grapegrowing in the region. A 90/10% blend, hand-picked, crushed and destemmed, open-fermented, 7 days on skins including 1 day cold soak, matured for 6 months in a 60/40% mix of American and French puncheons (10% new). A rich, deep-seated mouthful of succulent red and purple fruits sustained by fine, yet firm, tannins. The Rhone Valley would be proud of this. Drink by 2040.
