2015 O'Leary Walker Shiraz

O'Leary Walker Wines was established in 2001 by David O'Leary and Nick Walker. These two long time friends already had long, illustrious winemaking careers with big companies, but both were looking to take control of their own destiny and craft small batches of wine from great vineyard sites. The majority of the fruit for this wine was sourced from Clare Valley with a small McLaren Vale component (14%) also included. Maturation took place in French oak, (25% new and 75% one and two year old) for a period of 24 months.

Outstanding colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a deep bright dark red black hue. Pronounced ripe black cherry and liquorice scents lead the charge over some black olive, dried meat and distinct blackpepper notes. Luscious ripe black cherry, liquorice and blackberry flavours swamp the palate showing excellent richness over smoky vanillin cedar, some meatiness, black olives and pepper. Meaty mouthfeel finishing with good freshness and slightly dry, sturdy tannins. Long fresh black cherry, liquorice, smoky vanillin cedar and meaty pepper aftertaste.
