Aged in French and American oak. Dense inky black dark red core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Elevated ripe blackberry, liquorice and subtle dark choc mint aromas intermix with vanillin cedar, traces of earth and spice. Medium to full bodied, the rich dark plum, liquorice and dark chocolate flavours have a fleshy feel with vanillin oak, subtle earth and spice following on. Velvet like tannins in combination with good balanced acidity provides the supporting structure. Lengthy finish with some pepper also chiming in.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews….
Robert. Good depth, the best yet from Mount Stapylton; the bouquet has predominantly black fruits (cherry/berry) with a generous whiff of spice and black pepper, the palate juicy and rich, freshness and vibrancy reflecting its modest alcohol. Its best years are still in front of it. Drink by 2035.
