2015 Leeuwin Estate Prelude Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Leeuwin Estate is one of Margaret River’s and Australia’s great Estates. Their prelude range focuses on the regions benchmark varietals which are made in a more accessible form than the Art Series range whilst still retaining strong varietal character. The 2015 Prelude Cabernet is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot with maturation taking place in French oak for a period of 20 months.

Elegant, rich and polished, this is all class.

Very deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Fragrant and alluring the nose features elevated aromatics of red and blackcurrant, mulberry and bay leaf with cedary tobacco characters, dried herbs and spice also shining through. Rich, yet classy and elegant, the medium bodied palate is blessed with ripe red to blackcurrant and mulberry fruit which overlays subtle vanillin cedar, tobacco and infusions of bay leaf, finishing with a dash of spice. Very polished feel with seamlessly integrated tannins. Excellent length concluding with a long savoury aftertaste. A superb example of the Leeuwin Estate style at a fraction of the Art Series price.
Great drinking over the next 5-6 years.
