Whilst Brunello di Montalcino requires to be aged a minimum 4 years before release, including at least 2 years in barrel, the much more affordable Rosso di Montalcino only requires a minimum of one year. As a result they see less oak, are generally less tannic and more approachable in their youth. 2015 was a great vintage in Brunello with the Rosso di Montalcino’s showcasing the ripe red fruits of the season.

Aged for 12 months in Slavonian oak and then given another 3 months in bottle before being released. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright light red hue. Nosing reveals notions of ripe red cherry and red currant fruit laced with subtle rose petal notes over faint earth, fresh herb infusions and light spicy cedar. Supple, elegant and medium bodied, delightful ripe cherry and red currant flavours course through the veins of this delicious Rosso di Montalcino. Traces of earth, old cedar, faint herb infusions and spice ensue. Dry finish with bright, vibrant acidity and fine, slightly grainy tannins. Long savoury aftertaste of spicy red cherries, ripe red currants, earthy cedar and faint herb infusions.
