2015 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Fragrant dark cherry and red currant aromas laced with wild herbs are followed by some earthy old cedar and spice notes. Elegant and slightly rustic the medium weighted palate sees flavours of spicy dark cherries and red currants prevailing over a back drop of dried herbs, earthy tobacco and spicy old cedar. Finishes with slightly dryish but fine grained tannins and bright acidity. Good length with a savoury red currant, red cherry, dried herb, earth and spice aftertaste.

The 2015 Chianti Classico is a bright and convincing wine from Barberino Val d'Elsa, one of the main comuni in the greater Chianti Classico appellation. This is a smooth and silky Sangiovese that glides clean over the palate with strength and intensity. Bright cherry, blueberry and herbal accents with wild sage and rosemary characterize the finish. Like many other wines from the 2015 vintage, there is an evident touch of cherry sweetness on the close. Drink 2017-2025.
