2015 Fighting Gully Road Chardonnay

Sourced from Smith’s vineyard planted in 1978 this wine was matured in a mixture of new and used French oak hogsheads and aged on lees for 10 months. Brilliant water like colour with greenish tinged edges. Notes of white peaches and nectarines are laced with biscuity oak and funky match stick notes followed by cashew and spice. The palate has a good combination of richness, freshness and complexity with flavours of white peach infused with flinty struck match stick notes and dried honey over some biscuity oak and faint spicy cashew. Medium weight with a fullish but fresh textural feel. Clean dry finish. Long aftertaste of white peaches, dried honey, biscuity oak, cashew and funky struck match stick characters.
