Other Reviews....
The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots offers up a brooding bouquet of cassis, wood smoke and dark chocolate, subtly framed by new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and chewy, with nice depth and dimension, good acids and a formidable chassis of tannin that's classic Santenots. There's a lot of substance here, but it will demand some patience, especially if it shuts down further in the next year.

Bright ruby-red. Perfumed scents of blueberry, blackberry and bitter chocolate show little of the peppery quality of the Frémiets. Suppler, sweeter and more pliant in the mouth, communicating a plush quality to its enticing raspberry fruit. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and noteworthy length.

Stephen Tanzer - Vinous

A suave customer, featuring ripe black cherry, black currant and violet aromas and flavors wrapped in a coating of spicy oak. Even the tannins feel polished and well-behaved, adding support without being too obtrusive. Shows fine harmony and length overall. Best from 2020 through 2036.

A beautifully complex nose exhibits spicy and soft earth red and blue pinot fruit aromas that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is excellent mid-palate density to the tautly muscular medium weight flavors that also brim with dry extract and minerality before terminating in a gorgeously long and well-balanced finale.
