Dandelion vineyards is a venture between marketing gurus Zar Brooks and Brad Rey, with Zar’s wife, Elena as the winemaker. ‘When I see a weed I see the Devil' is an old viticulturalist's mantra, which makes the labelling of this wine rather quizzical. However, at Dandelion vineyards, we're told they actually encourage the dandelion to grow amongst the vines as it suppresses winter weeds and provides mulch in summer.

Their Lionheart Shiraz is so named after Barossa ‘s lifelong champion of old vines, Carl Lindner. This wine is sourced from a selection of his ancient, gnarled vines, some approaching and many over a hundred years of age that not only survive but thrive on their own roots in some of the oldest soils on the planet.

The Dandelion team continue to turn out brilliant wines at exceptional prices and this absolute beauty from the Barossa is no exception.

Matured for 18 months in some new but predominately older French oak barriques. Superb colour displaying a saturated inky black core with a deep dark purple black hue. Pronounced ripe black cherry, blackberry and liquorice aromas jump out of the glass overlaying smoky vanillin cedar with blackpepper end notes. Rich, lusciously textured black fruit flavours of juicy black cherries, liquorice and blackberries decorate the palate with subtle smoky vanillin cedar infusions also present. Impressive length finishing peppery with a sturdy yet velvet like tannin stricture imparting a slight chewiness on the back palate. Long luscious black cherry, liquorice, smoky vanillin cedar and blackpepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.5%
