2015 d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz

Matured in a mixture of new and used French and old American oak barriques. Outstanding depth of colour displaying a dense inky black core and a very deep dark red black hue. With some coaxing aromas of black cherries, liquorice and blackberries tinged with black olives, hints of boot polish, smoky cedar and blackpepper evolve from the glass. Big and rich with a tightly coiled structure and firm robust earthy tannins the palate possesses opulent ripe blackberry and liquorice flavours over toasty vanillin oak, earthy black olives, graphite and blackpepper. Finishes dry and grippy with an aftertaste of blackberries, liquorice, scorched vanillin cedar, graphite and blackpepper. Requires a lot of patience.
