2015 Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz

The O’Riada is made from fruit picked from Clonakilla’s estate vineyard and other excellent sites in Murrumbateman and Hall. It’s quintessential Canberra Shiraz elegant, full of ripe red berries and plenty of spice. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a bright dark red hue. Nosing conjures up an intense aromatic profile of spicy red and dark cherries, liquorice, subtle dried clove infusions, smoky cedar, dried meats and pepper. Medium weighted the savoury palate has plenty of spice and pepper along with excellent richness. Ripe red berries and liquorice subtlety infused with dried cloves and smoky cedar overlay some meatiness with a peppery finish. Elegant, meaty mouthfeel with the tannins providing some structure and chewiness to the back palate. Long aftertaste of peppery red berries, liquorice, subtle dried cloves, dried meats, smoky vanillin cedar and spice.

A strikingly fragrant and perfumed effort from Clonakilla, this wine captures you instantaneously. It is superbly constructed, aromatically fragrant, perfumed and darkly fruited; on the palate spice, superfine tannins and then the finish that just lingers and expands. Drink by 2040.
