Very deep dark red black colour with a bright purple dark red hue. Aromas of dark plum and dark cherries are shaded by some liquorice with ensuing vanillin cedar and spicy earth. Medium bodied, juicy plum and dark cherry flavours meet up with some liquorice overlaying toasty vanillin cedar and spicy earth. Fine grained tannins with an aftertaste of spicy plums, dark cherries, liquorice, toasty vanillin oak and peppered earth.
Cellar 3-4 years.
Alc 14%

Other Reviews….
Includes 2% viognier, six separate batches (different picking dates and clones), open and static fermenters, matured for 9 months in French oak (15% new). You get a lot of complexity and density for a $20 wine, indeed too much at this stage - a strange situation for a wine priced like this. The fruit crashes through on the finish like a wine with 15% alcohol, not 14%. Drink by 2035.
