Matured in a combination of 85% American and 15% French oak, 30% new, for 18 months. Impenetrable black core with a deep very dark red hue. Pronounced liquorice, dark plum and blackberry aromas intermingle with toasty vanillin oak, light earth and spice. Richly concentrated and opulently textured the palate is swamped with plush dark plum and liquorice flavours which meld into toasty vanillin oak, subtle earth and spice characters. Ripe sturdy tannins with a long spicy dark plum, liquorice, toasty vanillin oak and scorched earth aftertaste.
Cellar 3-4 years.

Other Reviews….
McLaren Vale shiraz, basket pressed and matured in American (85%) and French oak. Thick, sweet, substantial red. You wouldn’t call it a complex wine but you would call it a generous one. It pours kirsch, sweet plum, choc chip and toast flavours and it does so in smooth, svelte style. Tannin comes swamped with berried fruit. McLaren Vale Shiraz 101 in many ways – lots of flavour/no rough edges. Drink 2019-2027+
