27yo MV6 clone, hand-picked, 95% whole berries, 5% whole bunches, 16 days on skins, matured for 15 months in French barriques (30% new). The brilliantly clear colour signals a super-fragrant wine, spicy/savoury nuances attesting to the very cool climate of the Macedon Ranges, its balance and length impeccable.

Very even vines, the soils are variegated, but an even playing field for growing, with even berry size more or less even across the two acres. This is the yardstick, so to speak. Spending time with Michael Dhillon is a pretty great thing; insight and thoughtfulness the motif. It translates to the wines. Everything considered, more to strive for.
I like this dusty, savoury, stone and earth, undergrowth and briar character to sniff on. There’s red fruits, touch of black, but the elemental element is what draws you in. The palate shows some gentle sweet fruit, then the threads of tannin show you boundary and depth in the wine. It sits in a narrow pool in the palate and tightens. It’s sweet fruited yet has so much savoury-earthy structure, and, importantly an energy and drive across the palate. Pure class.
