$779.88 Dozen
Cellar: 8 - 10 Years (2025-2027)
ABV: 14.5%

This was the first red wine produced in Margaret River and has been made every year since 1972. A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Merlot it was matured in French Oak for 18 months (40% new, 60% 1-4year old).
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Refined aromatics of blackcurrant and mulberries laced with black olive overlay subtle cigar box notes, dried herbs and spice. Possessing great finesse and an understated richness the palate delivers elegantly textured flavours of blackcurrant and mulberry over cedary tobacco characters, black olives and delicate bay leaf infusions. Compact, yet concentrated finishing dry and spicy with structured finely knit tannins providing an excellent framework for longer term cellaring. Superb length with a long aftertaste of blackcurrant, mulberries, cedary tobacco characters, light black olive and spicy dried herb infusions.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Vivid crimson-purple; it would be hard to find a more elegant, yet razor-sharp expression of Margaret River cabernet. It has cassis nailed to its mast, the sails of bay leaf, perfectly integrated oak and fine-grained but insistent tannins. Lovely wine.

This is so floral and fragrant with currant and blackberry character. Full to medium body, linear and edgy with a energy running through it. Firm and silky. Fine grain texture. Zingy finish. Dense. Wound ball of silk. Screw cap. Love now but will improve for decades.
