2014 Sons of Eden Pumpa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz

Pumpa is Sons of Eden's tribute to one of the pioneers of Eden Valley viticulture, Len Pumpa. Primarily a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (78%) and Shiraz (19%) a dash of Tempranillo has also been included to add a subtle savoury nuance to the wine. Maturation took place in a mix of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 15 months.

An exceptional Eden Valley blend of these two classic varieties that combines richness, power and underlying structure all within a savoury elegance.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced ripe blackcurrant and liquorice scents drift out of the glass pursued by a whiff of black cherries, smoky cedar, subtle tobacco and dried herbs. Possessing excellent concentration and power within a very savoury context, rich liquorice, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit floods the mouth with underlying nuances of smoky vanillin cedar, black olive, fennel and spice. Seamlessly integrated, velvety tannins contribute to a supple impression across the palate yet there’s plenty of structure concealed beneath the wealth of opulent fruit. Long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, black cherries, liquorice, smoky vanillin cedar, subtle earthy black olive and spicy dried herbs.
