Named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Vigneron’s who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, the Grenache fruit is the ‘soul’ of this blend and is sourced from an exceptionally low yielding (1.2 to 2.2 tons per acre) 50+ year-old Light Pass Vineyard. It was originally planted by the Kennedy Family, with ownership eventually being passed onto the charismatic Leo ‘Joe’ KENNEDY who nurtured the vines for many years, selling his prized fruit to local winemakers.

Savoury and long with a plush velvety mouthfeel

Produced from a blend of 55% Grenache, 35% Shiraz and 10% Mourvedre with maturation taking place in seasoned oak barrels for 16 months. Opaque black dark red colour with a dark red purple hue. Excellent nose with alluring scents of dark raspberries, liquorice and fennel bounding from the glass over some smoky earth and spice. Rich and supple the medium weight palate is filled with succulent flavours of black raspberries, liquorice and incense infusions followed by a hint of scorched earth with a spicy finish. Velvet smooth tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe black raspberries, liquorice, subtle scorched earth and spicy incense.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
