2014 Schild Estate Merlot

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a deep brick red hue. Ripe dark plum and liquorice notes are followed by vanillin cedar, a hint of earth and spice. Ripe and quite weighty the palate has richly textured flavours of dark plum and liquorice over toasty vanillin cedar and spicy earth. Lacks varietal character. Soft grainy tannins with an aftertaste of spicy ripe dark plums, liquorice and earthy toasted vanillin cedar. A big ripe Merlot that could easily be mistaken for Shiraz.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
