Matured in new and seasoned French oak for 12 months. Impenetrable black as night core with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense liquorice, blackberry and dark plum aromas are trailed by vanillin cedar, traces of scorched earth, spicy leather and pepper notes. The full bodied palate is crammed with rich liquorice, plum, dark raspberry and blueberry flavours which sit over a back drop of vanillin cedar and spice. Finishes with a lick of fresh acidity, velvet smooth tannins and a medium to long aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
This has come together very well with its plush, bright red fruits, hint of blueberries, bay and curry leaves leading onto a fine palate, grippy ripe tannins. Yes, full-bodied, but reined in. Slurpy and eerily light. Drink by 2025.
