2014 Penley Estate Atlas Coonawarra Shiraz

Barrel aged in French oak for 18 months (25% new oak, 75% old oak) followed by 6 months in stainless steel. Totally opaque midnight black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. The nose has a distinct mintiness with lifted spearmint aromas complemented by liquorice, subtle dark chocolate, blackberries and spicy vanillin cedar. Medium weighted the palate features concentrated flavours of choc mint, liquorice and blackberries over vanillin oak and spice. Slightly dryish on the finish with velvety tannins creating a supple textural impression. Long aftertaste of choc mint, liquorice, vanillin oak and spice.
