2014 Palliser Estate Pinot Noir

Palliser Estate winemaker Allan Johnson aims to produce a ripe, full and rich Pinot Noir that possesses fresh fruit and a suppleness of mouthfeel. Another excellent vintage, 2014 Palliser Estate Pinot is an admirable effort that easily achieves these goals.

Deep dark red colour with a black tinge around the edges and a bright crimson red hue. Pronounced aromas of ripe dark cherries and dark plums laced with anise are followed by some toasty oak, meatiness and spice. Rich and possessing good weight the palate is layered with spicy ripe dark cherry and dark plum flavours intermixed with some anise and trailing smoky oak and spicy dried meats. Generous fleshy mouthfeel with slightly drying but otherwise very finely grained tannins providing a solid framework. Excellent power wave with a prolonged aftertaste of spicy dark plum, dark cherries, some anise, toasty oak and dried meats.
