A blend of Portuguese varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amarela and Tinta Cao which found their way to Australia's Barossa Valley in 1973 when they were planted at the historic village of Stockwell. A fresh fruit driven style which sees only 4 months in old French oak this wine opens with an opaque dark purple black colour with a bright purple red hue. Nosing exhibits aromas of ripe dark cherries, plums and a touch of liquorice followed by inky earth like characters and spice. Deliciously ripe and round in the mouth the palate features a rich flavour profile of dark cherries, dark plum and liquorice over a background of inky earth like characters and spice. Juicy mouthfeel with soft very fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, dark plum, liquorice, light earth and spice. A delicious fruity red.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
