2014 Mader Riesling

The Mader domaine is a small volume, high quality wine producer based in the picture postcard village of Hunawihr. Their Rieslings are some of the few in Alsace produced in a classic fine dry style built to age. A blend of several sites of mostly limestone based soil this wine also contains almost 15% de-classified Grand Cru fruit from vines around 30 years old in the great Rosacker vineyard.

Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Aromas of red apples, quince and citrus laced with hints of honeysuckle are followed by spice end notes. The palate possesses rich fruit flavours of ripe red apples, subtle honeysuckle and lime over some citrusy mineral with a refreshingly crisp finish. Quite fullish texturally with an aftertaste of red apples, light honeysuckle lime and mineral.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
