Greenock Shiraz is a single vineyard wine produced from low yielding Shiraz vines on the Kalleske estate at Greenock, in the North-Western Barossa Valley. Cuttings for these vines originate from a vineyard planted on the property in the late 1800s. Maturation takes place in a combination of American and French oak hogsheads (30% new) for a period of 18 months.

Certified Organic this wine displays a superb impenetrable midnight black core with a deep dark crimson black hue. The nose has excellent intensity with ripe blackberry and liquorice top notes overlaid by smoky clove like characters with peppered dried meat scents following. Full bodied, rich and opulently textured the palate is filled with ripe succulent blackberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours that are at interplay with complexing smoky clove like characters, some meatiness and blackpepper. Dryish finish with a firm robust tannin structure providing the framework and imparting a sense of chewiness. Long ripe blackberry, liquorice, smoky clove, dried meats and pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
