2014 Heathcote Winery Slaughterhouse Paddock Shiraz

Magnificent super saturated inky black colour with a very deep dark purple black hue. Intense liquoricy aniseed aromas soar from the glass with undercurrents of ripe blackberry, spicy vanillin oak, subtle dark chocolate infusions and pepper. Full bodied, rich and opulently textured flavours of liquorice, blackberry and eucalypt are quickly swamped by a strong vanillin oak component which dominates the palate to the detriment of the wine. Nuances of mocha and spice are also present. Velvet smooth tannins. Aftertaste of vanillin oak, mocha and spice. The vanillin oak is just too overwhelming.
