The distinctive labels of the Glaetzer portfolio hold special significance when you view this stunning collection of wines as a family affair. The entry level Bishop Shiraz is named in honour of Ben's mother, Judith (Bishop being her maiden name). The label bears the sign of Venus, which has come to represent women and feminine energy. Glaetzer sources fruit for the Bishop from the Ebenezer district of the Barossa valley from low yielding 35 year old & 120 year-old vines. He finds the fruit from younger vines contributes freshness & vibrancy, while Shiraz from the older blocks provides structure and depth. Maturation took place in a combination of 90% French oak and 10% American oak for a period of 14 months of which 40% was new oak.

A Powerful Barossa Shiraz with a textural feel of refined opulence

Magnificent colour displaying an inky black dark purple core with a deep dark purple hue. Showing excellent intensity pronounced aromas of liquorice, blackberries and dark plums rise from the glass followed by lightly smoked vanillin cedar laced with incense and subtle pepper end notes. Rich and concentrated but without any sense of heaviness the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of liquorice, dark plum and ripe blackberries over lightly smoked vanillin cedar and spicy pepper. Long and powerful the wine has an energetic finish that provides focus and structure. Very fine grained almost velvet like tannins. Long conclusion of liquorice, spicy blackberry, dark plum, vanillin cedar and pepper.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 14.5%
