2014 Five Geese McLaren Vale Shiraz

This rich, plush McLaren Vale Shiraz has been sourced from 50 year old vines with maturation taking place in predominately French oak, and some American oak hogsheads.

Totally opaque inky black dark red core with a deep bright dark red black tinged hue. Liquorice, blackberry and inky earth like scents combine followed by vanillin confectionary and a hint of pepper. Full and rich the palate possesses excellent concentration for its price point. A generous mouth full of ripe blackberry and liquorice fruit flows across the palate over some dark chocolate, inky earth, vanillin cedar and a touch of pepper. Plush textural feel with a stern underlying structure provided by the finely grained tannins. Long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries, dark chocolate, some earthiness and spicy vanillin cedar.
