The Farr Rising vineyard was planted in 2001 using three different clones MV6, 114 and 115. The fruit is fermented in open-top fermenters of which 60% to 70% of the fruit is typically destemmed. The wine is gravity feed into Allier barrels (25% new) and is racked by gas after secondary fermentation, then again at 18 months before being bottled.

Superb colour density for Pinot Noir displaying an opaque dark red black tinged core with a dark purple red hue. Perfumed violet, dark cherry and strawberry top notes are overlaid by clove, some meatiness and spicy cedar. Deliciously savoury the palate is slightly more elegant and has a fresher mouthfeel than the 2013. Generous flavours of ripe dark cherries, plum and ripe strawberries are followed by some subtle clove, meatiness and spicy cedar. Bright finish with excellent depth. Very fine grained velvet like tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, strawberries, plum, meaty cedar and spiced clove. A great follow up to the outstanding 2013.
Cellar 5-6 years.
