A direct import from the States, Domaine Serene are a highly regarded producer of world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley appellation. Long time fans of Burgundy, owners Grace and Ken Evenstad purchased a 42 acre hilltop estate in 1989 and completed construction of a state of the art winery in 2001. Since the first vintage in 1990 the estate has picked up many accolades including the Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir being recognized as the World’s #3 Wine of 2013 by Wine Spectator Magazine.

Aged for 16 months in French oak, 60% of which was new. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue showing excellent opacity for the varietal. A powerful nose is scented with dark to black cherry and dark plum aromas that intermix with anise and are underscored by well integrated toasty oak elements, earthy dried herb infusions and spice. Very rich this Pinot dishes up a big mouthful of black cherry, dark plum and anise flavours that flood the palate over a back drop of subtle dried meats, toasty oak and spicy dried herb infusions. Supple mouthfeel and velvet smooth tannins. Excellent power wave with a very long spicy black cherry, dark plum, anise, toasty oak, dried meats and earthy dried herb aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.2%

Other Reviews….
A soft and silky pinot with beautiful dried strawberries, blueberries and hints of vanilla to close. Medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and a fruity finish. This is all about subtlety and freshness. Drink now.
