Totally opaque inky black core with a deep dark red black hue. Pronounced liquorice, dark chocolate and ripe blackberry aromas rise out of the glass followed by some ripe black cherries and spicy vanillin oak. Rich voluptuously textured flavours of ripe blackberries, liquorice, dark plum and dark chocolate saturate the mouth with underlying elements of toasty vanillin oak and spice. Plush velvety tannins. Excellent power and concentration with a long opulent aftertaste of liquorice, luscious blackberries, dark chocolate, toasty vanillin oak and spice.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews….
A tiny parcel of 1.3 tonnes from an unnamed special vineyard, crushed, destemmed, open-fermented, basket-pressed, matured in French oak (75% new) for 10 months; 90 dozen made. The complex bouquet ranges through black fruits, polished leather and licorice, the medium-bodied palate seductively juicy and supple, with a long, lingering fruit-filled finish and aftertaste. A classy example of McLaren Vale shiraz, the handling of cedary French oak right on the money. Drink by 2030.
