2014 De Bortoli Villages Shiraz Grenache

A delicious Heathcote blend

A blend of 76% Shiraz and 24% Grenache with 40% whole bunch inclusion in the Shiraz and 10% in the Grenache. Excellent colour displaying an inky black core with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Lifted aromatics of liquorice, subtle violets, blackberries and dark raspberries pour from the glass followed by some inky vanillin cedar notes and pepper. Rich with good underlying structure the palate is generously flavoured with liquorice blackberries and dark raspberries over some spicy vanillin cedar and a touch of pepper. Dry sturdy finish with solid but fine grained tannins. The well structured, inky mouthfeel counterpointed by a wealth of fruit. Long finish of liquorice, blackberries, dark raspberries, spicy vanillin cedar, a touch of inky earth characters and pepper. Will become quite savoury with some bottle age.
