- Cellar 4 - 5 years (2021-2022)
- ABV 13%
- Closure: Cork
A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot with the remaining 5% made up of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Aromas of blackcurrant and hints of liquorice are overlaid by leather and scorched earth with spicy cedar end notes. Medium bodied with ample blackcurrant fruits to the fore, these are underpinned by scorched earth, leather, cigar box and spice. Dryish but finely grained tannins. Aftertaste of blackcurrant, scorched earth, leather, cigar box and spice.
Cellar 4-5 years.
The Château Clauzet 2014 has a perfumed and generous bouquet with lively blackberry and blueberry fruit that reveals real precocity. The palate is medium-bodied with soft and supple tannin, quite approachable, with nicely integrated oak and a grainy finish that needs to muster a little more precision by the time of bottling. If so, this would be a fine little Saint Estèphe, a viable and daresay, more affordable alternative to the big names. Drink 2018 - 2030.
Neal Martin - The Wine Advocate # 218 (Apr 2015)
Ripe cassis fruit - meaty yet some elegance. Quite forward.
