2014 Brown Brothers Heathcote Durif

Impenetrable inky black core with a still youthful deep dark purple hue. Fragrant aromatics of Morello cherries, liquorice and new leather overlay vanillin cedar, faint earth and spice. Possessing good richness, weight and relatively tame tannins for the varietal that still manage to provide some grip, the palate is filled with Morello cherry, dark plum and liquorice flavours over vanillin cedar, traces of earthy leather and spice. Slightly dryish finish with sturdy yet very finely grained tannins. Medium to long aftertaste of ripe Morello cherries, dark plum, liquorice, light earthy leather and spicy vanillin cedar.
