2013 Wilson Vineyard Watervale Riesling

A superb intensely flavoured Riesling.
There are two sub-regions that consistently produce the best wines from Clare, Polish Hill River and Watervale. The interesting part is that the primary fruit aromas and flavours from Watervale are completely different to those from Polish Hill River. Polish Hill River Rieslings tend to be more restrained, tighter and have a finer delicacy in the mouth whereas the Watervale Rieslings generally have more upfront generosity and luscious fruit intensity.

Early indications are that 2013 will be another stand out Riesling vintage.
Brilliant water like colour with very distinctive greenish tinged edges and watery hue. Zesty lemon and lime aromas leap out of the glass followed by some orange rind, talc and mineral. Mouth watering flavours of lemon and lime fill the palate followed by some orange rind and talc supported by racy mineral infused acidity. Clean dry finish with long lemon, lime, orange rind and mineral aftertaste.
Drink now or cellar 6-8 years (2013-2021).
