Sourced from the Perth Hills & Frankland districts this wine was awarded a Trophy at the 2014 Perth Royal Wine Show. Maturation took place in older French oak for 10 months. Very deep dark red black colour with a bright crimson purple hue. The nose displays fresh black cherry top notes alongside some liquorice, meatiness and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate is very generously flavoured with spicy black cherries and liquorice over some meaty characters and light cedar. Solid but fine grained tannins provide good structural support. Long spicy black cherry, liquorice and dried meats aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews...
The bright crimson-purple colour introduces a thoroughly left field regional blend, one can only assume experiments in a prior vintage led the West Cape Howe team down this path, for it succeeds brilliantly, the earthy black cherry notes of the Perth Hills encased in a juicy, spicy envelope provided by the Frankland River component, the net result a palate of great length and balance. Drink by 2023.
