2013 Torbreck The Gask Shiraz

Impenetrable inky black dark purple colour with a deep very dark purple hue. Showing good intensity aromas of black cherries and liquorice are overlaid by smoked meats and dried clove like notes with a peppered finish. The palate has good richness but is tighter and shows more structure than previous vintages featuring a savoury personality of liquorice, black cherries and dark plum overlaid by dried clove and smoky cedar with black pepper infusions ensuing. Refined, yet sturdy tannins keep everything wrapped up tightly. Aftertaste of black cherries, liquorice, dried clove infusions and smoky pepper. A much more restrained, almost elegant style of Gask compared to the opulent efforts of the past.
