Matured for 20 months in American oak this wine displays outstanding colour with an impenetrable inky black core and a very deep dark purple black tinged hue. Fragrant aromas of blackberries and liquorice emerge from the glass followed by some subtle dark plum notes, vanillin confectionary and light pepper. Medium to full bodied the Blackwell typically shows more refinement than the majority of its Barossa counterparts and this is again the case with the 2013 vintage. Excellent richness featuring mouthfilling flavours of liquorice and blackberries overlaying dark plum, vanillin oak and light blackpepper. Solidly built tannins impart a sense of inky firmness on the back palate. Long blackberry, liquorice, plum, vanillin confectionary and pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 14.5%
