2013 Penny's Hill Skeleton Key Shiraz

Superb depth of colour with an inky black heart and very deep dark purple black hue. An intense aromatic profile of liquorice and ripe blackberries are overlaid by some lightly toasted vanillin cedar with underlying dark chocolate, mocha and spice scents also present. The palate is brimming with opulent fruit yet is more structured and meaty in texture than the 2012. Mouthfilling flavours of blackberries, a touch of black cherries and liquorice fill the palate followed by toasty vanillin cedar, some dried meats and spicy pepper. Dry, tight inky feel on the finish with a firmly built tannin structure. Long aftertaste of spicy pepper, liquorice, blackberries, smoky vanillin cedar and dried meats.
