2013 Majella Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Totally opaque inky black colour with a dark purple red hue. Lifted aromas of blackcurrant and liquorice are overlaid by some bay leaf with following scents of lightly toasted vanillin cedar and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate is filled with fresh ripe blackcurrant and dark cherry flavours followed by bay leaf, vanillin cedar and spice. Dryish finish with well constructed tannins that are still quite velvety in appearance. Aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant with bay leaf infusions, vanillin cedar and spice. As has been the pattern in recent vintages the Majella reds seem to have taken on a more elegant toned down appearance and as a result sacrificed some weight and power.
