Recent enthusiasm in Australia for alternative varietals has opened the door for benchmark wines from previously lesser known regions . Vermentino, which can be found in many parts of Italy and Southern France, is right at home in Liguria within the Colli di Luni DOC at the foot of the Apuan Alps, overlooking the Mediterranean sea.
Cantine Lunae Bosoni set the bar high for the region through the 80s and 90s, and were recently named one of Italy's top 100 wineries. No mean feat when you consider the staggering number of competitors in a country deeply entrenched in wine culture. While the estate's focus is on re-establishing local Ligurian varieties, the Vermentino Etichetta Grigia remains their most popular wine. It is a text-book example of an aromatic varietal that's been growing in popularity the world over.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a faint tinge of green around the edges and watery hue. Scents of pear and red apple are followed by some light wet stone and fresh herb notes. Lively palate flavours of fresh pear, apple and citrus with a crisp wet stone and mineral finish. Excellent acid balance with medium to long fresh pear, apple and stony mineral aftertaste.
