It’s a rare in today’s marketplace to find a South Australian Shiraz hailing from an excellent vintage that has some decent bottle age behind it. The fact that it’s McLaren Vale based and selling for only $20 makes it even more remarkable.
Fleshy and still retaining an abundance of rich black fruits, this is a beautifully aged McLaren Vale Shiraz.
Dense pitch black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. A waft of intense aniseed aromatics unite with black cherry and dark plum over a smoky vanillin oak, black olive and a peppered earth back drop. Rich and possessing plenty of flesh the palate is awash with opulent aniseed, black cherry and black plum fruits which move into elements of smoky vanillin cedar, earthy black olive and blackpepper. Velvety yet still quite structural tannins. Concludes long, richly fruited and peppery. A beautifully aged McLaren Vale Shiraz to drink over the next 2-3 years.
