Ben Jeanneret calls this curiously named wine 'Rank & File'. It's what Shiraz represents to him - the heart and soul of the Australian wine industry. Sourced from five different vineyards, all but one from the northern part of the Clare Valley, the fruit for this wine was matured in a mixture of French and American oak of which 16% was new.

Possessing Warrabilla like concentration and richness, this is a giant of a wine.

Superb colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Scented aromas of liquorice and black cherries are to the fore followed by some toasty vanillin oak, meaty characters and blackpepper end notes. Boasting massive palate weight, liqueur like concentration and an opulent chewy texture, explosive flavours of ripe black cherries, liquorice and blackberries saturate the palate over a background of toasty oak and blackpepper. Solidly built firmish tannins are the perfect backbone for the enormous wealth of decadently rich fruit. Magnificent power with a very long aftertaste of liquorice, black cherries, blackberries, toasty oak and spice.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 15.5%
