2013 Hollick Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Sourced from a selection of fruit from some of Hollicks older Cabernet Sauvignon vines which were planted in the 1970’s and 1980’s with barrel maturation taking place in French oak (30% new) for a period of 20 months.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Lifted aromatics of ripe blackcurrant and liquorice drift their way through the olfactory senses with following notes of spicy vanillin cedar, subtle cigar box infusions and faint spearmint. Full bodied with lashings of rich, ripe blackcurrant fruit flooding the palate alongside liquorice, subtle cigar box, vanillin cedar and spice. There’s an underlying sturdiness to the fine grained tannins that provides the wine with good structural properties. Excellent length and persistence with a long finish of rich blackcurrant and liquorice fruit, spicy vanillin cedar, faint cigar box and spearmint.
